Join Dublin-based artist Amanda Vencatasamy to explore Fractured Connections, her new body of tufted textile works. Using colour, form and texture as her primary language, Vencatasamy often describes her process as "painting with wool". Each piece begins intuitively, allowing colour relationships and material interactions to guide the composition rather than following a rigid plan. Through the rhythmic process of tufting, she builds layered surfaces where soft sculptural forms appear to connect, interrupt and shift across the work.

Join Hazel Bruce for a curators tour of this exhibition of graduate work from the Textile Art, Design and Fashion programme at Belfast School of Art, Ulster University. This work features both textile artists and textile designers at the beginning of their careers. Specialising in print, weave, knit or embroidery, the work explores a wide range of themes, developed during the final year of the course. From protest and activism informed by the issues of our time to sustainable and ethical use of resources in response to over-consumption and social or environmental concerns, there is a desire to draw attention, to speak out, to explore new ways and design solutions through the message, or innovative use of techniques and materials.

For over 150 years Derry ~ Londonderry was the largest producer of shirts in the world, with over 8,000 women at one time working in the industry, and 45 factories within the city.
