Blackwork, also known as Spanish Work, is a very old type of counted thread embroidery thought to have originated when the Moors in North Africa moved to Spain in the 8th Century. It was brought to England by Catherine of Aragon who married Henry VIII. This workshop gives you an introduction into the ancient art of Blackwork needlework where you will be shown the basic techniques for the correct stitch which is used in Blackwork by creating this simple flower. All materials and full instructions will be provided in your workshop kit
